Twickenham Stadium Rescues
                                                  Fire Damaged Nursery

When Twickenham Park Day Nursery had to close its doors after a serious
fire, the management turned to Twickenham Stadium for help.

With the nursery having nowhere safe for their day care of 60 tots and
toddlers, the RFU offered, free of charge, a temporary home in the stadium’s
                                                  spacious ground-floor Carling Suite.

Guy Mitchell, manager of the nursery, said: “This was fantastic. Our parents
were very supportive but they needed to know we had a safe environment for
their children, with staff they know looking after them. We have pre-school
children from one to five and the older ones were very excited, especially as
                                                  some play touch rugby.”

RFU Chairman, Bill Beaumont, recently confirmed as World Rugby Chairman,
dropped in to see the children and said, “It’s lovely to see them having fun.
As a father and grandfather, I’m very aware how much working parents rely
on their child care. I’m delighted that Twickenham Stadium could welcome
the children and nursery staff. Our relationship with our local community is
                                                  really important to us.”

Community Sponsorship

The RFU continues to fund a range of local events and projects which are of benefit to the community and, on average,
helps some 40 each year. Borough sports days for Richmond and Hounslow are annual recipients and the range of activities
and organisations has spanned youth groups to help for the elderly and Christmas and summer fairs. A new sponsorship
programme is launching in autumn 2016.
